Once, a father and son went to a vibrant kite flying festival. The sky was filled with colorful kites dancing in the breeze, and the young boy couldn’t contain his excitement. He eagerly asked his father for a kite and a spool of thread, which the father happily bought for him.
The boy launched his kite into the air, watching it soar higher and higher. After a while, he observed, “Dad, the kite could go even higher if we let go of the thread! Shouldn’t we set it free?”
Thinking it was a good idea, the father cut the thread. At first, the kite seemed to rise a bit more, which delighted the boy. However, as the wind died down, the kite began to falter and soon fell onto the roof of a nearby building.
Perplexed, the boy turned to his father and asked, “I thought releasing the thread would help the kite fly higher. Why did it fall instead?”
The father smiled gently and replied, “Son, the thread wasn’t a restriction; it was a lifeline. It helped the kite navigate the wind and stay aloft. Without it, the kite lost its support and fell.”
The boy pondered his father’s words, understanding the deeper message.
Moral:
In life, we may sometimes feel that our connections or responsibilities weigh us down. However, these ties provide vital support during difficult times and help us achieve our aspirations. Rather than severing those connections, we should value and nurture them, as they are the threads that help us soar to greater heights.
