Once upon a time, there was a snake charmer who wandered through forests, deserts, and mountains in search of new and venomous snakes day and night. One day, during a harsh winter season, he was searching for snakes in the mountains when he came across a large, powerful dead dragon. An idea struck him: if he could somehow take this dead dragon to the city, a crowd would surely gather to see it. With the attention of the people, he could make a lot of money.
After considerable effort and risking his life, the snake charmer managed to drag the dragon back to the city. As a result of his remarkable feat, a great commotion spread throughout Baghdad. Everyone who heard the news that the snake charmer had captured a rare dragon left everything to come and see it.
A crowd of hundreds and thousands gathered. Due to the extreme cold and snowfall, the dragon’s body had become numb and appeared lifeless. However, as the warmth from the crowd and the sunlight fell upon it, the dragon suddenly began to tremble and opened its mouth. The moment the dragon opened its mouth, panic ensued. In a frenzy, everyone scattered in different directions. As the sun’s rays warmed the dragon, life began to return to its joints and limbs.
The snake charmer, overwhelmed with fear, froze in place, realizing the disaster he had brought upon himself. He thought to himself, “What a calamity this is; I have brought this disaster upon myself.” Before he could escape, the dragon opened its cavernous mouth and swallowed him whole. Then, it slithered forward and coiled around a tall building’s column, crushing the snake charmer into dust.
Lesson of Life
Dear friend, our soul is similar to the dragon. Do not consider it dead, for it may seem frozen due to a lack of means and resources. However, through the warmth of devotion to Allah and the light of spiritual awareness, it comes to life once more.
