Once upon a time, there lived a proud and self-indulgent king who believed himself to be the wisest man in the land. His advisor, however, was truly known for his calm nature, deep insight, and understanding of life’s mysteries.
One day, while enjoying a plate of fruit, the king accidentally pricked his finger with a fork. The sight of his own blood startled him, and he became visibly upset.
The minister, seeing the king’s panic, said gently, “Your Majesty, do not be troubled. There is often magic in misfortune. Perhaps even this small injury is a hidden blessing from Allah.”
The king, already annoyed by the pain, grew furious. “How dare you speak of blessings when I am bleeding!” he shouted. In his anger, he ordered the guards to throw the minister into prison. As he was led away, the minister remained composed and said calmly, “Even in this, there must be magic in misfortune.”
Days passed, and the king’s wound healed. One day, he decided to go hunting alone in the nearby forest. On his return, he lost his way and wandered into a remote area where a tribe of barbarians lived.
The tribesmen seized the king and brought him to their chief. After inspecting him, the chief announced that the king would be sacrificed to their gods.
When the day of the ritual came and the king was brought forward, the tribe’s spiritual leader noticed the scar on the king’s finger. After a close examination, the priest said, “This man is not whole—he has a wound. We cannot offer him to the gods. Only someone without blemish may be sacrificed.”
And just like that, the king was released. Shaken but alive, he returned to his palace, realizing that the injury he had once cursed had saved his life.
The moment he arrived, he ordered the minister’s release. When the wise man stood before him, the king said, “You were right. There was magic in misfortune. That wound protected me.”
The minister smiled and replied humbly, “Indeed, Your Majesty. But there was also magic in my misfortune. Had I been with you, I would have been sacrificed instead, for I bore no wound.”
Life Lesson:
Sometimes, what seems like a setback is actually a setup for something better. There is magic in misfortune—hidden wisdom in every twist of fate. Trusting in Allah’s plan brings peace, even in the darkest of times.
